| Note the incised lines on this wrought iron garden gate which have been created by forging the steel with hot chisels. At temperatures of 1800°, the plasticity of steel allows the smith to transform the material much as a potter does with clay. The detailing here was accomplished with hand tools and a coal fired forge. Standard garden gate size is 3'W x 4'H x 1"D. |
