The installation of the EE1000 Unican double ended push-button lock set requires extreme dimensional accuracy for proper installation. Before I started the fabrication for the lock box, I had to create pencil sketches of how the lock was going to fit into the non standard three inch thick pedestrian gate. As you can see, the limits presented by standard door thickness has been overcome by cutting into the 2" x 3" stainless steel frame. Another issue I had to face was the inability of standard carbon steel drills to cut the tough stainless steel. I ended up having to use carbide tipped drill bits. Working stainless steel requires specialty tooling and an extraordinary amount of additional time for working this tough metal. |
