Patina Brass Armadillo

Before I can attach the brass panels, I have to clean and apply an antique brass patina to each panel. This first image shows the brass plate after I have degreased it and ground the burrs off the edges.
I use a surface preparation chemical solution to remove all previous oxides and any oil residue which may have occurred during the handling of the brass.
Once all the oxides are removed, the area is thoroughly rinsed with water and towel dried. The brass is now ready for the application of an antiquing brown to black patina.
