Antique Brass Patina

I use Sur-Fin Chemical Superantik 41 for the brown to black patina for brass. This is a corrosive chemical so wearing heavy duty gloves is a must.
There are several ways to apply patinas to achieve various textures and colors. The image above shows the application with a sponge which can give better control when trying to achieve texture. I use a spray bottle with additional light rubbing with a scouring pad. This method gives a more uniform finish.
Once I achieve a uniform dark brown - black finish, the brass is rinsed off with water, towel dried, and allowed to cure for two days before any additional work is done to the brass.
