Blending Color

The application of the antiquing patina solution must be done on an oil free clean surface. If there is any oil, even oil from your hands, the patina will not react with the brass.
This solution is worked into the brass with a camel hair brush. The application takes 5-15 minutes to react with the brass. The brush is loaded with new solution and re-applied several times until a uniform dark black color is achieved.
Once the correct color is achieved. The patina is removed and allowed to fully dry. This may take an hour or so before I start using a coarse pad to remove and blend the extra color. I realize that it may seem that I am repeating some of the steps of cleaning and blending, but this is necessary to achieve a consistent color throughout the whole piece.
