This detail shows some of the various metal forms I used to make the medallion. The petals were hot forged from various sizes of rebar, threaded rod and hex bar. I used these materials to give different textures to the edges of the petals. The central pod was made by filling a 2" pipe with various metal shapes and then mushed to form a nice rounded base. The horseshoe nails enclose the pod as if protecting its contents. After showing the client this sample, I now have a better idea as to the direction I will take in producing the separate medallions for these tables. The client has accepted my proposal and I will now start making the table legs and table top frame. |
